Absorb

Absorb...When you go out ---you absorb everything! The trees, the people, the cars, nature! You walk away and absorb more. What are you absorbing? Everything, everything you see, smell, taste, hear and feel... This is a big piece of living that makes you who you are. Our time in our life is long... and that data we absorb, stays with us and is stored in the back of our minds. When we need it... it comes. Sometimes it's easy to retrieve and sometimes it's not so easy. When we age significantly or are stressed, unhealthy or not happy are brains become less dependable and lose the capacity to retrieve information as easily. It's like mental breakdown...Or like a computer... we need a reboot. We are unfunctionable. If you were a machine and not working to capacity, what would you do? You would get it looked at and get it fixed... You may even need a new one. The beauty about being human is that we all have the power to reboot and even fix(heal) ourselves! This is a start and a nice moment --- Your Away Space Things you will need: a comfortable chair or place to lie down a small pillow for back or for curve of neck feet a flat on floor or knees bent with feet on bed a quiet room a small pad of paper(your new journal experiences) A good start is to go to your 15 minute Away Space. Remember to remind the members of your home that this is your uninterrupted time. Relax and breath... Breath the way it is comfortable... Don't sleep, but think about your breaths and slow them down. Count 1,2,3,4 in... and 1,2,3,4 hold... and 1,2,3,4 out... and 1,2,3,4 hold... Do this for a few minutes, making sure to keep your back straight. This is so that you receive optimum oxygen intake. This is great practice in the start of any relaxation exercise. Enjoy this moment...Relax your mind. It may want to wander, but don't let it. Go back to focusing on your breathing. Maybe this time, placing your hands on chest. (You will actually see the rhythm of your breathing.) Now is the fun part... Write it down in one paragraph, how you felt and the sneaky thoughts that tried to make your mind wander. If you are the type of person that hates to take notes, write 5 words that describes exactly how you felt, thought, and wanted to feel. *Keep this journal for you next experiences!
